White House Fires NTSB Member Inman

The Trump administration abruptly fired NTSB member Todd Inman Saturday and Inman says he doesn’t know why. “To date, I have not received any reason for this termination,” he said. Inman, a former Department of Transportation senior staffer, was appointed two years ago by then-President Joe Biden. NTSB members normally serve five-year terms. Inman was the first board member on the scene of the collision between a Black Hawk helicopter and an American Eagle regional jet in Washington in January of 2025 and gave an emotional account of the destruction in television interviews.

The NTSB is referring all media inquiries to the White House, and the White House isn’t responding to them. Inman’s firing comes almost two weeks after the Board was brought to its full strength of five by the Senate confirmation of John DeLeeuw, the former head of safety for American Airlines. DeLeeuw took the place of former Board member Alvin Brown, another Biden appointee who was fired without explanation last May.

Multiple choice:

A. He’s more qualified for his position than Pam Bondi and Pete Hegseth are for theirs,

B. He’s not as loyal as Pam Bondi or Pete Hegseth,

C. He’s didn’t adequately emphasize DEI as causal to the DCA crash,

D. All the above.

F. We finally have a President who will take action when he sees the political correctness and insanity of threats from previous administrations.

I figured it out: “… was appointed two years ago by then-President Joe Biden.”

Inman also served as DOT chief of staff during Trump’s first term. But, he often butted heads with Homendy.

Sadly, that’s the rules of the game. His position, and that of four thousand others in the Federal bureaucracy, are “at will”, and thus subject to dismissal at any time for nearly any or no reason. As a middle-aged white male, he has little recourse, even having swallowed gallons of kool-aid. Given that he has not demonstrated that he’s totally incompetent (apparently not a disqualifier in this administration) my bet is that POTUS has someone else he wanted to “perk up”.
