Aborting a takeoff is usually a pretty serious event, but it seems like this instance was properly dealt with as a housekeeping matter. AvBrief subscriber Ed Wischmeyer was heading back to Savannah Airport in his tricked out RV-9A with his flight instructor Kelly Wetherton when they heard this exchange between the tower controller and a sheepish United Express pilot who was trying to take his passengers to Dulles in their E175. The flight got into Dulles about a half hour later than usual, according to FlightAware data. The takeoff run seems to have barely begun when the crew hit the brakes because they were given a taxiway about 2,000 feet from the threshold to stop and sort everything out. … not to mention a hilarious homage to FITH in ‘Airplane’ involving trying to drink coffee.
