Police Helicopter Plucks Dog From Icy River

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office helicopter was used to pluck a Goldendoodle from the frigid Seneca River in northern New York last week. Bystanders called 911 about the dog, which was clearly struggling midstream among chunks of ice. The helicopter was diverted to the scene and the crew performed a tricky skid rescue. The dog was warmed up and was apparently unharmed.

Our Poodles always waited for summer weather and tepid water before immersing themselves. As this wasn’t a 100% Poodle it’s understandable that an error in judgement might have occurred. Glad that GD survived the bath and I’m sure the family is greatly relieved as well. Nice Flying!

And a whole new level of calling a ‘rescue’ dog adoption if s/he is unclaimed.

Great work everyone.
