One Dead in Seminole, 172 Collision

One pilot died in a midair collision between a Piper Seminole and Cessna 172 owned by the same flight school in eastern Ontario on Saturday. The two aircraft collided near Martintown, near Ontario’s border with Quebec. The 172 was destroyed but the twin was able to land safely. The accident occurred about 10:50 a.m. local time.

The aircraft were both owned by Cornwall Aviation, based at Cornwall Airport, about 20 miles south of where the accident occurred. Local police confirmed the dead pilot was on a training flight but no details were released on the twin, other than it landed without further incident. The flight school confirmed the tragedy in social media posts calling it a “very difficult day for our aviation community.”
