A pilot ejected from a Marine Corps legacy F-18 Hornet near Mount Rainier in Washington State on Saturday afternoon, according to the Seattle Times. The pilot was taken to a hospital but their condition is unknown. The F-18 has two seats but only one was occupied on this flight. Some reports say the pilot had minor injuries and was picked up by sheriff’s deputies and taken to a local hospital. The aircraft was attached to the 3rd Marine Air Wing at Air Station Miramar in San Diego. It was training on a low-level corridor when the crash occurred.
Video below shows the ejection and subsequent crash. The plane came down near Rimrock Lake in Yakima County. It’s an area commonly used by Marine and Navy aircraft for training. The crash started a forest fire and firefighting helicopters were on the scene. More details as they become available.

Russ, do the folks there ever look at what get posted AFTER putting their columns together? This video has a flag with “Seattle Submissions” stuck in the middle of the and emanating from the right side of the frame. THAT and a chatbot that popped up when I first started the video made it difficult to see what was actually happening. Can’t you guys ensure that clean videos are shown and chatbots aren’t going to pop up in the middle of them? Give credit in text/caption/headline so we can see what the video is really showing? Ask the folks who submitted the video if they can provide a clean version without watermarks in the middle of it?
