King Schools alluded to a change in the works for their online training portal at EAA AirVenture this summer, and now that upgrade has gone live. The San Diego-based training company released the new system this week, and it provides a seamless experience across all of the King Schools courseware accessed online.
“We have been working on it for a long time, revamping the user interface for all of the King School’s courses,” said Barry Knuttila, co-owner and CEO of King Schools, at AirVenture. “You’ll now see the same treatment across all of our courses. And our goals have really been to make it easier for any one of our customers who’s taking a course to be able to understand where they are in the course, what they have left, what their status is, and to easily navigate the course on a lot of different screen sizes. We support everything from web-based interfaces to your iPhone, iPads, everything in between.”
A video tour, led by King Schools instructor Samuel Golden, takes you through the latest and introduces you to each element of the new user interface.
One of your first choices to make is to indicate whether you are accessing a particular course via “use web” or “use app,” which will direct you to the right mode. Progress bars now show you what percentage of the course you have left, and you can skip ahead to the quiz questions that go with the video at just about any time.
The test prep dashboard is familiar, with flashcards, question review, practice exams, and search functions. And resources on the left-hand menu include two important ones to review, according to Golden: “Your Success Begins Here” and “How to Ace Your Test,” giving you critical tips and techniques to study effectively and translate that to a good score on the knowledge and practical tests.
There’s a slightly different look if you’re using the King Schools courseware via the Cessna Flight Training System. Overall, much of the navigation is a lot easier to find, and it aligns the system with current expectations for online training.

How is this news? Their platform still looks like an early 2000s website and their videos are still 200 years old. That video literally said they added a progress bar. Are you for real bro.
