Authorities took the unusual step of evacuating Kansas City Airport for about three hours on Sunday after what appears to have been a bomb threat. Although it was quickly dismissed as not being a credible threat, it was certainly taken seriously initially. Airport workers began ordering everyone in sight to evacuate to the ramp about 11:15 a.m. Meanwhile aircraft were being parked on a remote taxiway, far away from anything that might blow up. It also got the attention of both FBI Director Kash Patel and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.
In all, about 2,000 people ended up on the ramp. Logan Hawley thought he was going to Texas but instead found himself with dozens of others being herded into the early spring chill. “Suddenly there was an airport worker saying, ‘Immediately evacuate.’ People got up fast and rushed out of there,” Hawley told the Associated Press. After a couple of hours both Patel and Duffy sounded the all-clear, with Patel saying the threat was investigated and found “not to be credible.”

Oh great. So now passengers have been allowed onto a previously assumed sterile area where they really could do some damage. I wonder who decided that the ramp was a better option than the sidewalks of the circular drop off areas?
Maybe it was closer?
