In one of the more unusual appointments by the current administration, vintage jet buff, private astronaut and multi-billionaire Jared Isaacman has been confirmed as the new administrator of NASA. Isaacman, who is a friend of former Department of Government Efficiency head Elon Musk, was originally appointed last spring but his appointment was pulled shortly after Musk left his post in a public spat with President Donald Trump over tariff policies. Then, in November, the administration put his name forward a second time and he was confirmed with a solid majority by the Senate on Wednesday. Isaacman has his sights set firmly beyond Earth orbit.
In a message to NASA employees right after his appointment, Isaacman reinforced the agency’s plans to create a base on the moon and to visit Mars and like all things involving space he said it will be hard. “To succeed, we must concentrate all of our talent and resources on achieving the near-impossible – what no one else is capable of accomplishing,” he said. His full note to staff is below.

Lot’a potential to be the best NASA Administrator ever. Hope he can deal with the political nonsense that comes with it.
Wow – Isaacman, Musk, and Trump all in one sentence! Let the howling begin.
Seriously, Russ, this piece seemed terribly politically motivated.
