Ground Stop Hits Texas Airports

A technical glitch, reportedly communications problems, caused a ground stop at several major Texas airports on a busy Friday afternoon. The FAA said an issue with the local telephone company was behind the outage. The ground stop started at 3:09 p.m. local time and was not expected to be lifted until 7:45 p.m. Delays were expected after that.

At its peak, the ground stop affected at least six north Texas airports, but Dallas/Fort Worth was most affected. More than three quarters of flights there were backed up well into the evening.

Yep. We have the best ATC system we are willing to pay for. And there is always a “weakest link” …

But don’t worry, AI will soon solve that problem too …
