Less than two months after the sale of Jeppesen and ForeFlight to investment firm Thoma Bravo, ForeFlight announced in a letter to customers that discounts for the ForeFlight Mobile app originally offered to the Society of Aviation and Flight Educators (SAFE) and National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI) will be reduced.
In its customer notice, ForeFlight said that SAFE/NAFI discounts now provide 15% off the price of ForeFlight subscription plans, excluding any add-on products or regions. The previous discount was 33% off the cost of a subscription. Additionally, ForeFlight says the 15% discount may no longer be applied when buying the Starter subscription plan and can only be used with the app’s Essential or Premium tier subscriptions. The discount is good for first-time buy-ins, upgrades, and renewals.
While the SAFE/NAFI discount has been reduced, the pricing for all of the ForeFlight subscriptions remain the same. In an interview with AvBrief this past November, ForeFlight’s Brad Surak said there would be no dramatic price increases for any products under the new regime. He also said artificial intelligence will be employed to take Jeppesen and ForeFlight products to a higher level.

Very disappointing. Not a surprise however, this was expected as soon as Boeing sold off products to investment firms.
No dramatic price increases implies that there will be some price increases. I predict a 15% increase in Q1 2026.
Regardless of what Brian Surak said in the interview, I expected price increases. This is the first shoe to drop. Hold on to your wallet for additional shoes to kick you in the rear.
“Who would have thunk…?”
