Dynon’s New Transponder Saves Weight, Space

Since an important part of any kit project is saving weight and space, Dynon’s latest remote Mode S ADS-B transponder—the
SV-XPNDR-263—is designed to do just that. It’s based on the Trig TT23 transponder that Dynon introduced last month (Dynon recently acquired Trig) and the unit works with the popular Dynon SkyView HDX and the Advanced Flight Systems integrated avionics suites.

The TT23, which is controlled through the Dynon SkyView and Advanced Flight Systems panel displays, has 250 watts of output and can serve as a mandate-compliant ADS-B Out source when it’s paired with the appropriate WAAS position source. This includes the Dynon SV-GPS-2020 GPS module. The new transponder is plug-compatible with Dynon’s existing remote transponder and it’s nearly 14% lighter (weighing 10.6 ounces) and smaller, too. The dimensions are 1.5 by 2.6 by 5.9 inches so install it wherever there’s room.

When replacing an older Dynon transponder, The TT23 mounting tray is designed to use the existing mounting holes from the old tray and the unit uses the existing power, ground, and serial data wiring to play over the SkyView and Advanced integrated suites. The TT23 has a three-year warranty and it’s priced at $2,678.
