Closing Date Approaches for Women in Aviation 2027 Scholarships

The organization gave out more than $610,000 to aspiring aviation pros earlier this year.

Over the course of its 2026 conference, Women in Aviation International handed out more than $610,000 across 87 scholarships to aspiring aviation professionals. As of June 1, the organization, which supports the development and impact of women in aerospace, has opened its 2027 scholarship pool to applications. It’s worth noting that WAI does not discriminate according to race, gender, age, religion, or ethnicity in making its awards. Each specific scholarship may have its own requirements, but typically they remain open to a broad segment of the population. However, you must be a member of WAI current through March 30, 2027, or later, in order to apply.

Applicants have through Sept. 1, 2026, to apply for the 2027 bank of scholarships available. For the most part, scholarships are open to non-U.S. citizens, though a few have that requirement. Only scholarships submitted through the online portal before September 1 will be accepted. Up to three scholarships may be applied for, though internships are not part of this reckoning. More tips can be found on the WAI site.

Also through this channel, you can apply for the Harvard Emerging Leader 2027 program. Women in Leadership: A Program for Emerging Leaders comprises three days on-site at the campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts, or virtually, for those selected to participate. The program is led by Harvard University’s Division of Continuing Education. The Harvard scholarship is designed for WAI members with at least seven years of career experience and an aptitude for leadership.

Since 1995, WAI has awarded more than $17 million in scholarship funds. The awards will be announced at the 2027 Women in Aviation conference, which will be held February 25-27, 2027, in Savannah, Georgia.
