Citation Pilots Partner With Insurance Company With Different Approach

The Citation Jet Pilots Association has partnered with 5X5 Aviation Insurance to offer its members lower costs and plans that don’t include age caps. The company says it makes its premium and coverage decisions on data, some of it based on pilot training experience and record. “With multiple liability and hull limit options, coverage is based on your performance and needs, not those of a faceless risk pool,” the company says in its promotional material. “Arbitrary cutoffs for age and other factors aren’t part of the equation.” Insurance costs for pilots of high-performance aircraft, especially older ones, have skyrocketed in recent years and 5X5 says its model is geared for operators like those in the Citation type club.

“Partnering with CJP is a natural fit—their members are among the most safety-focused pilots in the world, and this collaboration allows us to reward that commitment directly,” said CEO Troy Kopischke. He said all members get an immediate 5% discount on premiums while those who get extra training may be eligible for another 5%. Those awarded the group’s Gold Standard Safety Award get 20% off. “CJP members train harder, fly smarter and commit to programs that raise the safety bar for all owner-flown jets,” said CJP CEO Rob Balzano. “Working with 5X5 ensures that commitment translates into real value at every renewal.”
