Chinese Testing Tactical Transport Aircraft

The latest in a flurry of new military aircraft being developed by China appears to be a large turboprop transport like a C-130 or A400M. The aircraft, known as the Y-30, was shown in a video from a long distance on Tuesday and reported by The War Zone. Most of the recent revelations by the People’s Liberation Army have been jet fighters and fighter bombers, some of them crewed and some drones, but they’ve also been testing amphibious flying boats and other transports.

TWZ says the plane is being developed by the Shaanxi Aircraft Corp. and may replace the Y-9 transport that is also built by Shaanxi. The first videos and photos of the plane, which looks more like an A400M than a C-130, were shot near Xi’an in central China.
