Bristell B23 Goes MOSAIC, Electric in the Works

Powered by the Rotax 916 iS and equipped with a customizable suite of Garmin IFR avionics, Bristell has repositioned the B23 two-placer from its LSA-category 1,320-pound max gross weight to 1,630 pounds, leaving almost 600 pounds of useful load and preserving an expanded mission in the MOSAIC environment. Bristell also announced a partnership with Safran and H55 for a Part 23- and EASA-certified all-electric airplane. AvBrief contributor Julie Boatman caught up with Bristell’s David Copeland for an update at Sun ‘n Fun 2026.

With no material changes to the design of the aircraft this just continues to show that the LSA category of 1320 pounds was far more of a paper limit than a physical one.
