EAA inducted five new members to its Halls of Fame including a highly respected contributor to AvBrief’s Experimental Aviator newsletter. Vic Syracuse accepted the accolades in the EAA Homebuilders Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Oshkosh Wednesday. EAA noted he has built 12 aircraft and is a tireless advocate for the sector and that this isn’t his first recognition. “Syracuse has served as the chairman of EAA’s Homebuilt Aircraft Council and was honored in 2022 with the prestigious Tony Bingelis Award, which recognizes EAA technical counselors for dedicated service and significant contributions.” Syracuse is a regular contributor to AvBrief’s Experimental Aviator section and he also writes for EAA’s Sport Aviation magazine.

Among the other honorees are aerobatic performer Rob Holland, who died earlier this year when the elevator on his customized MXS-RH show plane jammed which he was on final approach to Langley Air Force base before a show there in April. Other inductees are Vintage Aircraft Association Hall of Fame, Mark Holliday of Athens, Tennessee; EAA Ultralights Hall of Fame, Dave Cronk of Moab, Utah; and Warbirds of America Hall of Fame, Darrel Berry (posthumous).
